MEDLINE provides authoritative medical information on medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, pre-clinical sciences, and much more. MEDLINE uses MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) indexing with tree, tree hierarchy, subheadings and explosion capabilities to search citations from over 4,800 current biomedical journals. The database provides full text for a number of open access journal titles, as well as journals the University Libraries subscribe to and is available on the free PubMed site sponsored by the National Library of Medicine.

Current Index to Statistics

The Current Index to Statistics (CIS), a bibliographic index to publications in statistics and related fields, is a joint venture of the American Statistical Association and the Institute of Mathematical Statistics. It currently indexes the entire contents of more than 162 core journals, selectively indexes an additional 1,200 journals, and indexes some 11,000 mathematical statistics books and conference proceedings. CIS is international in scope and covers subjects such as Bayesian mathematics, data analysis, Markov processes, Monte Carlo methods, probability, statistics, and stochastics.

Hazardous Substances Data Bank (HSDB) is part of the National Library of Medicine's Toxicology Data Network. It contains toxicology data and information on potentially hazardous chemicals. The data is peer reviewed and is derived from books, government documents, technical reports and journal articles. HSDB includes over 4,500 individual substance records. Each record contains human health effects, emergency medical treatment, animal toxicity studies, metabolism/pharmacokinetics, pharmacology, environmental fate/exposure, chemical/physical properties, chemical safety and handling, occupational exposure standards, manufacturing/use information, laboratory methods, special references, and synonyms and identifiers. HSDB may be searched by chemical name or name fragment, CAS registry number, or subject terms.

Provided by the New York State Library, NOVELNY connects New Yorkers to 21st century information. NOVELNY is supported with temporary federal Library Services and Technology Act funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). The New York Library Initiative is a proposal for permanent state funding for NOVELNY, a pilot project for the Statewide Internet Library.
